As genius hour comes to a close, I can look back on when I started this project, to when it ended. When I started this project I was pretty nervous. I was not sure how difficult it would be or if i was even going to be able to succeed.
I started off with numbers, and when that showed to be difficult, I was a little frightful on how I would learn actual phrases.
Once I started really getting a hang of it I got a confidence boost that motivated me to keep going. Every time I learned something new, I only wanted to continue to learn.
All together this was a great experience and I would suggest to anyone who wants to learn a language that will benefit them in the long run, American Sign Language.
Gods speed to you all

Genius Hour 1.7
This week I have been fairly productive. I have practiced, more like review, the terms I have already learned. I also learned some emergency signs such as ambulance and hospital. With this genius hour winding down I don't think I will try to learn new signs but work on the ones I already know and making sure I have perfected them.

Genius hour 1.6
This week I continued practicing introductions, as well as learning new conversational signs. I learned statements and questions such as “where are you from?” And “I am from...” So far I feel as if I'm getting the hang of it and I think in the next week I’ll learn emergency related signs as that might be useful in the future. I’ll try to learn signs such as “where is the nearest hospital?” And “call an ambulance!”

Genius hour 1.5
This week is the first week where I can say if given the opportunity I could confidently have a basic introduction and conversation in American Sign Language. I have practiced basic questions and answers, as well as introductions. I thought that remembering all of the different signs would be difficult, because I found numbers quite difficult to memorize, but I got a hang of it quite easily. It helps that asl doesn’t use words like are and is. So, instead of saying “how are you?” They simply say “how you?” Which I feel makes it easier to learn because the statements and questions are short and easy to memorize. This next week I will focus on maybe some more complex conversation such as occupational and geographical conversation signs. I will also continue to refresh on numbers.
Gods speed to you all.

Genius Hour 1.4
It has come to my attention that my blog from last week had failed to post so I will take this time to apologize to my fans.
To get you up to speed on my journey of Asl, this past week has definitely been one of my more successful weeks. I have finally perfected signing numbers and I have moved on to introductions. Introductions are proving to be slightly more difficult to memorize but I have confidence I will get a hang of it very soon. Some of the signs I have been practicing include:
•”Hi, my name is Katrina.”
•”What is your name?”
•”I am from Montana.”
•”Where are you from?”
I will continue to practice and update you next week
As always, God’s speed to you all

Genius Hour 1.3
Hello everyone welcome back!
It is already week three on this crazy adventure! In the past twenty one days I have perfected the alphabet, I can not say the same for numbers. I am still mixing up the similar ones like sixteen and twenty six. I will continue to practice as well as work on some basic greetings. The sign language app on my phone has been my main resource for numbers and a book I got from my mother has been my main resource for the basic greetings. This week I'll continue to work on greetings

Genius hour 1.2
Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog.
Not going to lie week two did not go as I expected. I Worked on memorizing numbers 1-30 and it surprised me to how long it took me to grasp the concept. I figured it would be as easy as it was when I was learning the alphabet, but maybe I’m just dumb...at this point it’s a toss up. I would mix up similar numbers such as 16 and 26. I am trying my best to figure it out, but please be patient and gentle with me as I am but a wee flower in this new meadow that is American Sign Language. I will continue to work on it and I hope I will be able to regain not only some of my dignity, but my fellow peers respect.
Tune in next week for an update on my journey.

Genius Hour 1.1
For my first week of attempting to learn basic American Sign Language I focused on numbers and letters. I did not have many difficulties with the alphabet as that was more review then learning a new concept.
Numbers were a little more difficult. This was my first time learning numbers, and there were some difficulties. I struggled with mixing up my similar numbers, such as twelve and twenty two.
I will continue to practice numbers, and will hopefully be able to get to one hundred by the end of next week.
Gods' speed.
